    • Where should I leave my car?

For our day hikes you can leave your car/truck at the rest area where we will meet. You may also follow us to the trail head to park there.

    • What equipment/clothing will I need?

For almost all of our day hikes we will provide you with a brand new Hiking Red River Gorge water bottle along with freshly filter water. The weather in Kentucky can vary drastically from month to month. Depending on your chosen trip and the date we will advise you of what types of clothing to bring.

The main thing we stress is no cotton clothing. When cotton gets wet either from perspiration or the weather it will remain wet for hours. In cold weather this could lead to hypothermia. We understand not everyone wants to purchase a $90 hiking shirt for one hiking trip and for that reason we offer many short day hikes where wearing cotton won't be a safety issue.

    • Where should I stay before and after my trip?

In the Red River Gorge area there are a variety of places to stay. Everything from cabins to backcountry campsites. If you want to stay in the area you should look into our overnight hiking adventures.

    • Do you provide transportation?

Depending on group size we will provide transportation from our meeting location to the trail head. You may follow us from the meeting location to the trail head also if you would like to enjoy a scenic drive through Red River Gorge.

    • What first-aid and safety precautions do you take?

At Hiking Red River Gorge safety is our number one concern. Our primary goal when forming Hiking RRG was being able to provide a safe, family friendly adventure to the thousands of people that come to visit Red River Gorge each year. Prior to each trip we will access the fitness level of each person along with any gear they may bring. Each of our guides have been certified through the American Red Cross to provide First Aid and CPR. Some of our guides even volunteer for the local search and rescue team.

    • Do you provide gear rental?

Yes, we do have limited items you can rent from us. Our most common rental is our hammocks. No need to purchase one for $70 when you can rent one from us for a fraction of the cost.

    • Do you have an alcohol policy?

Kentucky law prohibits consumption and open containers of alcohol in public places, including national  forest land and Kentucky lakes and waterways. KRS  222.202; 261.58 (bb), Supervisor’s Order DB-06-10.

    • Should I tip my trail guide?

This is totally up to you. If your guide had amazing hair and told a minimum of 3 funny jokes feel free to give him/her a dollar or two. Maybe even crayons, the guides love to color.
